Description

 

The UNLV School of Music presents the American Prize Award-winning UNLV Wind Orchestra in "Joe's Tango." The concert features Distinguished Artist-in-Residence and principal trombonist for the New York Philharmonic, Joseph Alessi.

The concert, conducted by Professor Thomas G. Leslie and Zane S. Douglass, highlights a plethora of world premiere performances including: UNLV Wind Orchestra Associate Conductor Douglass' transcription of the Main Theme from "Captain Blood" by Erich Korngold; Chick Corea's Concerto for Trombone, featuring Alessi; Jorge Machain's Five Cities featuring the internationally renowned brass quintet, Boston Brass; and a brand new composition entitled Triumvirate composed by Machain to commemorate the collaboration of Maestro Alessi, the Boston Brass, and the UNLV Wind Orchestra on the release of their new album, Joe's Tango.

$10 discounted tickets are available to seniors, military members, and UNLV faculty and staff, and all students. All students may also receive one free ticket with valid ID.
